Africa to combat cybercriminals

Kenya is in advanced stages to assemble a cybercrime laboratory for use by police in Eastern Africa countries, New Times reports.

The facility would be used by Member States of the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (EAPCCO), which includes Uganda, Sudan, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti and Comoros. Maj. Gen. Hussein Ali Muhammad said the innovation is to detect cybercrime including Internet-based fraud, pornography, hate crime and illegal money transfer.
