A report in
The Citizen says that magistrate JM Robertson refused an application under the Performing Animals Protection Act. Elizabeth property tycoon and Kwantu Private Game Reserve owner Yossuf Jeeva had applied for the permit two months ago to train five elephants, two Bengal tigers, six lions, cheetahs, African wild dogs and spotted hyenas, reports
The Herald. The SPCA says the ‘ruling carries ramifications – all to the benefit of the animals themselves – in relation to the rapidly growing elephant-back safari operations in our country and other activities involving wild animals in captivity’.
