Pastor cleared of sodomy charges

The Director of Pubic Prosecution (DPP) in Uganda has said there was no evidence to prosecute Pastor Isaac Kiwewesi of the Kansanga Miracle Centre.

Kiwewesi had been accused of sodomising David Arinaitwe, one of his worshipers, since 2006. According to a New Vision report, the DPP cleared Kiwewesi after it was discovered that the accusations were false and it could not proceed with the case. Jane Kajuga Okuo, the DPP's spokesperson, said: 'In order for the DPP to sanction any file, there must be evidence to support the allegations and connect the suspect to the crime. There is no evidence to support the allegation against Kiwewesi.'
