The former debt collectors of the Ekurhuleni Municipality (East Rand) have obtained a summary judgment against the municipality, which owes them more than R1.8m, a Beeld report says.
Metro Revenue Collections obtained an order in the Germiston Magistrate's Court after a contract to collect debts on behalf of the municipality was cancelled. The sheriff ordered the attachment of 144 reaction vehicles of the Ekurhuleni Metro Police to cover the debt. Municipal Manager Patrick Flusk said the municipality would appeal against the warrant.
