Position: Manager: Consumer Protection Services
Salary: R557 133 p.a. This includes basic salary (60% of total package), State's contribution to the Government Employee Pension Fund (15% of basic salary) and a flexible portion. The flexible portion of the package can be structured according to the individual's personal needs.

Description:
The Department of Economic Development is seeking a Manager: Consumer Protection Services.
Responsibilities:
* Manage the provisioning of effective complaints handling.
* Liaise with various industries and other stakeholders on Consumer Affairs matter
* Formulate and develop the consumer protection policies
* Manage the dispute resolution and negotiation between service providers and consumers on more complex complaints
* Co-ordinating and providing guidance to all funded paralegals and monitoring their expenditure in order to maximise service delivery
* Liaise and network with key stake-holders in the Consumer Protection arena, more specifically with business, public interest organisations and NGO's
* Provide direction and leadership in the implementation of consumer education and information strategies.
* Monitor and control all consumer education projects and ensure that funds, resources are utilised to derive maximum outputs for the directorate
* Ensure effective promotion of Consumer Education Programmes in the Province
* Liaise with different stake-holders in promoting consumer education
* Manage the provisioning of administrative support to the Consumer Protection Tribunal.
* Facilitate the process of deliberating and deciding on issues affecting the consumers
* Ensure fair handling of consumer matters
* Oversee the processing of all applications from the civil society and general public.
Requirements:
* The minimum qualification required for this position is an RQV 13 (Degree or National Diploma) in Legal studies with a minimum of six to ten years' management experience in the field of consumer rights protection.
* A post graduate legal qualification plus an LLB degree or managerial qualification and / or admittance as a legal professional to the High Court of South Africa with minimum of 3 to 5 years post admission experience will be an added advantage.
