Judge Chris Nicholson has emerged as the front-runner to preside over Jacob Zuma's bid to have his corruption trial deemed an 'unlawful prosecution'. The hearing is scheduled to get under way in Pietermaritzburg next week.
Another possible candidate, according to speculation in The Witness, is Judge Leona Theron, who was the first woman of colour to be appointed a judge in KwaZulu-Natal in October 1999 at the age of 32. The report says both Nicholson and Theron have the necessary credentials in terms of seniority and experience.
